Mental Health Nursing is a specialist field within the health care profession. Over the course of this four-year honours degree course, students will develop the professional knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to meet the nursing needs of individuals experiencing a range of mental health feelings, problems and conflicts.
The nurse is concerned with helping to restore and maintain mental health and has an educational role in the promotion of recovery and the reduction / prevention of mental health distress. The primary objective of mental health nursing is to facilitate the maximum development of the mental health of the individual who has mental health problems and to promote mental health in the wider community.
